Unit 32631
Category: Layer dug in 2016
Area: South
Interpretive Categories: Oven Base+Makeup
Data Category Information: Location: feature; Description: oven; Deposition: homogeneous
Discussion: Layer exposed after remove the infill U32629. With the same unit we remove the base and the make up of this oven, but we took separate samples for each element.
The base was a thin layer, orange-brownish, compact and very burn. It extends in whole surface of the oven, except in a little part in the SE edge, were was completely damage. This base had a convex shape, being the center the highest part. Laying on that surface, in the extreme NE we documented three bones and two shells. Seems that the oven placed in the NE part of the B-17 had the same kind of deposit on the base.
Below the base we documented a make up layer, dark brown and quite loose. Was around 0.02 cm thick and extends for the whole base until the edges of the superstructure.
The layer that we exposed below, is a grey and compact with quite charcoal visible as a main intrusion. We didn’t assigned a unit number to that layer, and needs to be documented. This layer is related with the last line of bricks from the superstructure that is still in the place.
After remove this two elements will be possible to define the physical relation between that oven and the hearth F8170 that seems to be below, and also clarify if that oven have more phases of use.

Finds Room Information:
All material from site passes through the finds room for washing and separating before it is passed onto the various lab teams. The finds room keeps a basic inventory of what is found. A finds material type list is given here. Further analytical detail maybe provided by the Lab Team data below.
