Unit 3543
Category: layer dug in 1999
Area: North
Interpretive Categories: roof collapse
Data Category Information: none
Discussion: In the x - section of 3543 shows that the vertical beam of roof rested (fallen) on horizontal roof snd squashing it. North part of ??? is burnt red. Dark grey triangle of looser soil on each side of vertical may represent original top of roof. Squashed horizontal is now diagonal. Roof falls exactly against edge of platform F.173 in N not damagging it. It seems to fall on platform F.170 that may be abud F.173 squashing some of it's layers. Or it is lying on floor in between the 2 platforms.

Unit description: A moderately fragmented unit dominated by sheep/goat, very few burnt bones except the shaft of a right human radius that had been carbonised. The flotation sample, which was recorded for diagnostics only, was similar, no fish or microfauna were present in the 4mm sample. NR 2003: Sample 1 >4mm flotation 100% sorted, recorded as diagnostics and flot frags. It is a medium size sample, with a variety of fragment sizes. Mostly sheep-size but some large mammal. Some burning, a good bit of digestion. A bit of fish, amphibian, and bird. Three pieces with cut marks; seems like more than usual. Surface condition mostly good. Looks like not very reworked fill or construction material. Last number = 72Figurine Records: No GroundStone Records: No Heavy Residue Records: No Microfaunal Records: No
