Discussion: Collapsed deposits + debris directly overlying uppermost floor in sp. 86. Dug in M squares. Deposites are similar over whole room. Mixed constructional debris including large slabs of collapsed wall plaster, burnt brick frags.
A "stone" bead from this unit was found in the heavy residue. There is a possibility that the bead comes from the late Roman burial that was dug in the Neolithic deposits above this unit. The burial was excavated in 1987. One of the reasons for this interpretation is that the bead does not look Neolithic and the material that it is made of looks like frit (proto glass mat.)

Unit description: Sample 1 >4 mm flotation sorted 100%, recorded completely. Largish unit for floor. Mostly quite fragmented, but a few larger pieces (up to 6 cm). Only slightly more sheep-size than large mammal; some fish and lots of microfauna, mostly frogs, including some very large ones (only one is burnt). Are they eating bullfrogs? Very little long bone, otherwise fairly even body part distribution. Pile of cattle horn core was probably once a chunk of several centimeters. A little burning, high and low temperature. Somewhat weathered. Seems secondary, kicked around, like fill. But why so many frogs? Last number = 66
