Discussion: Uppermost fill of post hole/post retrieval hole (3808). It is composed of well laid brick and mortar courses in an apparently building 1 fabric. It appears that the uppermost part of the cut was bricked up at a late stage in the infilling process just prior to the construction of the building 1 walls.
Recognition: Distinct bricks and mortar surrounded by plaster and different bricks/mortar.
Definition: Edges of other sets of brick/mortar.
Execution: Trowel.
Condition: Quite dry.
Consistency: hard
Colour: bricks; silty clay/mortar;silty sand
Texture: brick 10 YR 5/2 grayish brown; mortar 10 YR 6/4 light yellowish brown
Bedding: massive
Inclusions: occ. charcoal flecks - 2%
