Discussion: Plaster rim of W side of fire installation F.290.
Recognition: Mottled grey and white plaster rim which seems to be slightly scorched on inside.
Definition: Stops 3/4 way along S edge of F.290, curves round in E to N where it stops just short of baulk continues into E L.O.E (baulk).

Condition: Hot.
Consistency: compact
Colour: mottled 10 YR 8/2 very pale brown; 10 YR 4/2 dark greyish brown
Texture: white plaster = clay 90%, silt 10%; grey silt = silt 60%, clay 10%
Bedding: massive
Inclusions: 5% white salts <1 mm, 20% phytoliths, 2% burnt clay/silt flecks, 1% charcoal flecks up to 3 mm long
Post-depositional Features: slightly scorched on inside
