Unit description: Flot 2, >4mm, 100% - diagnostics only Platform on north wall of Building 6. The top layers may have been partially excavated by Mellaart and there is definitely some disturbance. Several discontinuous layers have been included in this unit since this may be fairly recent disturbance. A large, unworked red deer antler was embedded in the plaster (F1), but did not appear to have been covered in plaster. It was not associated with any other finds. The unit has the normal range of small mixed pieces, but also a number of large bones some of which may have been whole or substantially whole prior to excavation. Colour was generally light brown among the larger pieces and medium brown to grey among the smaller pieces. Burning only occurred occasionally on the smaller pieces and never on the larger ones. Despite the mixture, element representation is poor, mainly ribs and scapula among the large pieces. Most of the identifiable bones are 007 size, although there is some sheep/goat including a large part of a goat horn. There is also one rodent long bone and a few bird long bone fragments. There is also one very odd piece of worked scapula and a fragment of a bone ring. In general the unit appears to have a floor-like deposit, but with many large unworn pieces mixed in.
