Unit 4383
Category: layer dug in 1999
Area: South
Interpretive Categories: fill/packing
Data Category Information: Location: cut; Description: foundation cut; Deposition: homogeneous
Dimensions: 3.8m n-s, 0.24 to 0.58m w-e, 0.04 to 0.16m thick
Discussion: Fill lying between/under/over various walls. Hard to define/excavate and patches may have been tops of badly eroded walls.
**although there was no physical evidence of this, this deposit has been interpreted as constructional infilling within a foundation fill cut on the basis of the sequence excavated further south where the evidence did survive (see cut 4396 and discussions of wall 401 to the south) (sf 2001)
Recognition: not wall but mixed fill
Definition: upstanding
Execution: trowel/hand pick
Condition: very dry
