Discussion: 4507 was a strip of homogeneous clayey material which together with 4786 made up the partition F528 that separated the "clean" and "dirty" areas in the eastern half of building 23. 4507 appears to have been laid as the central spine of this feature which was then grouted above and around by the orangey material 4786. There was a concentration of phytoliths on the upper, southern surface of the deposit in a patch of darker grey material. This could repesent either the trample of material from the "dirty" area into the top of the partition, evidence of a repair to or build-up of the partition because of wear, or (most likely) variation in the clayey material that it was composed of.
