Unit description: Dry sieve has just 10 fragments: a foetal cattle phalanx, a sheep size mandible fragment and long bone frags, a cattle-sized skull frag, plus some indeterminates. Flotation sample 2 (>4mm was 100% sorted and recorded) is small, with a few cattle sized frags, but mostly sheep-sized (long bone, rib, vert). Diagnostics are fox and dog (?) femur frags, a sheep/goat patella, carpal and phalanx. Condition: fragments are on the small size (many at 1 cm) but range up to ca. 6 cm. Surfaces are generally in good condition and the bone doesn't seem to have been exposed/rolled much although some of the smaller pieces are a little battered. Quite a few pieces are digested, and about 5% are burnt at low temperatures. Generally the assemblage has low integrity, seems to have mixed derivations, but isn't trampled (suggesting a fill rather than floor deposit). The bone would seem to represent post-consumption debris, after intensive processing. Last record = F36Figurine Records: Yes
