Discussion: Fill of a small clay ball pit, situated just north of the fire installations in Space 173, and adjacent to another similar feature. Fill contained a number of crushed clay balls (cluster 4941). 

 

Recognition: Circular deposit surrounded by mixed materials 

Definition: Clear edges with other layers 

Execution: Trowel from edges 

Condition: Dry, compact, undamaged 

Consistency: Firm 

Colour: Pale orange-brown 

Texture: Silty clay 

Bedding: Massive 

Inclusions: 5% small clay ball fragments 

Post-depositional Features: Some root disturbance 

Basal Boundary: Clear, smooth, anthropic
