Dimensions: 0.48m (EW) x 0.46m (NS) x 0.001m thick 

Discussion: [5202] was a very thin skim of charcoal/ashy rake out material, which underlay F555, and the scrappy trample layer [5193]. It appears to be the product of the repeated raking out of waste from the oven F571 which has been trodden into the underlying floor / floor packing deposits, which made it very hard to define/distinguish as a unit. 

Consistency: friable 

Colour: steely grey 

Texture: silty ash 

Bedding: massive 

Inclusions: 10% charcoal, flecks of plaster 

Post-depositional Features: salt encrustation 

Basal Boundary: clear/sharp where it overlay the oven demolition debris layer [5334], less distinct where it overlay earlier oven rake-out deposits which were not clearly different
