Unit 5362
Category: layer dug in 1999
Area: South
Interpretive Categories: Floor
Data Category Information: Location: building; Description: general; Material: mixed; Deposition: composite (floor/bedding/plaster/packing/occupation)
Dimensions: 3.30m (e-w) x 3.50m (n-s) x 0.01 thick
Discussion: Floor which was covering the east two-thirds of the room. To the west was a thick brown packing layer (5364) which (5362) liped up against. It is interesting, as there appear to be no floors contemporary with these to the west. Either they were truncated, or we have to think about whether the thick deposits that we find are simply 'packing': in terms of - were they used as floors, even if they don't like what we normally call floors?
