Discussion: This unit comprises the fill of the probable burial pit. The fill in this unit is immediately under the "burial cag" I.e., the thin layer of white plaster (unit 6206).The fill (unit 6211) comprises gray ashy soil with very evenly disprsed fragments of charcoal, plaster and some fagments of burnt brick clay. The soil is relatively soft but packed. (08/22/99) -> The depth of a skeleton was reached and it was stopped from going deeper here. The aim is to define the burial pit that goes underneath the floor of this platform on the eastern side of the burial pit. It was hard to excavate here since the earth is very packed and there is a danger of destroying edges of the pit. A number of phytolithic lumps was collected as sample no 11. All these were taken off the 'ceiling' the part of the pit that goes underneath the floor. This was also recorded. With the corners, I.e. those bits that were still stuck to the ceiling in situ. (coordinates for this sample were taken from the approximate location of these phytoliths on the level of platform level, that means that the actual height for the sample is 0.8 cm lower than one written on the sheet here and on the page.

Unit description: A small unit mostly recovered from numerous flotation samples. Practically all of the bone is from sheep-sized animals and a high percentage has been burnt in all of the samples. 4mm flotation sample was fully recorded, samples 4, 5, 6, 7, 8, and 9 were recorded for diagnostics only. NR 2003: Some more flotation samples recorded for diagnostics and flot frags. Sample 12 is of moderate size, consisting of small but not tiny pieces, up to 2-3 cm. Some is digested, ca. 40% burnt. The diagnostics are all digested. Surface condition is mostly fairly good. A sheep/goat deciduous tooth was also recorded from the >2 mm. Looks like construction material. Sample 10 is similar, with a very fresh human phalanx and some pieces up to 5-6 cm. Sample 11 is smaller, with somewhat less burning and pieces ranging up to 4 cm. Last number = 59
