Later wall cuts across east-center of unit, over what appers to be an earlier wall made of orange clay, NE-SW. East of the earlier wall we found a mixture of orange and grey clay, suggesting rubble. In the west (west of the later wall), the stratigraphy is mixed and unclear. A clear, darkish midden is surrounded by greyish soil mixed in with charcoal and plaster fragments. In the NW, we cut away a section of what we formwely thought was archaeological deposit to expose layers of loose soil infused with roots and a thin layer of orange clay. We quickly stopped excavating this area and left a short profile cutting across the NW corner, clsing off an area of speckled grey and light orange soil in the NW, which we had found directly below the topsoil. Areas W and E of the later wall contained a lot of bone, mostly fragmented. Clay brick fragments and what may be a later period rooftile were also found.
