Unit 8213
Category: layer dug in 2001
Area: North
Interpretive Categories: rims and base of the hearth
Data Category Information: none
Dimensions: outer R=55cm; Inner R=37cm
Discussion: photo numbers:
The rim of this hearth/oven was constructed of yellowish sandy clay stuffed and hardened in circle around the base of the hearth. Lots of phytolith remains are visible, charcoal bits, ash. Underneath the layer of coarse sandy clay of various colors which was removed in this unit, we found another floor made of scroched clay, very much destroyed, and lying on another packing of coarse sandy clay. That could be a floor pre-dating the hearth in the same area. After removing the rim of the hearth, it became obvious that this hearth/oven is contemporaneous with what we call floor and packing of the platform extension.
