Unit 8402
Category: layer dug in 2002
Area: North
Interpretive Categories: internal wall
Data Category Information: none
Discussion: Upper part of F.772, especially on W side. Soft crumbly mortar with thin fragments of brick.
Above plastered level on wall on E side. Combination of brick and mortar same as F.1000 I.e. red crumbly brick and beige concrete-like mortar layered together. At S end, brick comes of mortar easily. There are fragmentary plasters on the upper surface - maybe from a re-surfacing. Bricks that are plastered slope down to E. A layer of mortar was put on top of the E surface plaster and leveled it. Mortar also used to line posthole F.766.
