Plaster shelf-like feature, approx 18cm in diameter.
Re-situed during conservation, this decorative feature or shelf was constructed using sucessive plaster layers. Mellart described similar features at Catalhoyuk as breasts.
Feature was dismanteled from the back. Previous conservation (conservtion grout and an unknown adhesive) was removed first using a combination of tools (flat head screwdriver and a paint scraper). During deconstruction a section (back, top left) became detached and worked obsidant was found paritally covered in conseration groupa and the unknown adhesieve. The remaining prevosu conservation was removed as well as the fiberglass rods. The hollow inside of the feature was revealed and it was fiilled with conservation grout. The grout was removed but nothing was found inside. The feature was then fully dismantled using a mattock. |
