Round cut with several layers of fill, visible in the section/cut of the post retrieval pit by the western wall.

2014 update: Planned, photographed, and excavated in 2014. This feature represents a very circular cut into floor u. 20849 (f. 7014), and its compact grey fill, which seems to represent a single packing event, perhaps as makeup for the floor. The cut was irregular at its base and overall extremely shallow, leaving its purpose rather enigmatic, especially since no finds were identified in the fill. |
