Unit 1096

Data Category Information: Location: cut; Description: posthole; Deposition: homogeneous; Basal Spit: basal deposit
Dimensions: 0.75m N-S, x 0.24m E-W x 0.20m deep
Discussion: Pit fill cutting pre blocking occupation to north and cut down the side of the wall to the south. Respects the wall to the east and west truncated by Mellaart. excavation. The fill is very dense and very hard brick debris with fragmented fragments of wall/floor plaster (this would be from cutting through floors). Basal spread to south is of 30mm of unstructured plaster - not a lining but a primary deposition. Unknown function to the pit - its stratigraphic sequence as we know is below room infill (if we take cut (1095) as part of this) cuts the floors, there is no evidence left (after Mellaart.) that this cut was sealed by later post-blocking floors and therefore this cut may possibly be associated with either platforms or pillars in this space?

Finds Room Information:
All material from site passes through the finds room for washing and separating before it is passed onto the various lab teams. The finds room keeps a basic inventory of what is found. A finds material type list is given here. Further analytical detail maybe provided by the Lab Team data below.
