Unit 11307
Category: Cut dug in 2004
Area: South
Interpretive Categories: Grave cut
Data Category Information: Description: burial
Discussion: This unit represents grave cut for F1517, within which adult femle remains were found in a flexed position. Although cut into midden material, most of the cut very well defined, mainly by feel and midden striations in layers, but clear all the same. Eastern extent lost to truncation by F1513 and severe animal burrowing. Northern edge also slightly distorted and not yet clear due to presence of clay marl (11330), as yet unexcavated. Represents strategraphic problem that needs to be dealt with in the coming season.
This fill is also likely to contain neonate burial (10498) F1516. A tentative cut number [10496] has been assigned (see relevant units) but due to closeness of the individuals it may be suggested that both relate to one another. Both are cut through midden material and both relate to a pre-construction phase of burial, and likely to have instigated the building of platform F1501.
