Discussion: Unit 15144 is an approximately 20cm layer of room fill in space 340. The fill was full of medium-sized chunks of red-painted plaster, as well as chunks of mortar and clay lumps of various sizes. There seemed to be a uniformity of the fill throughout the 20cm depth, thought red-painted plaster seemed more concentrated on the western portion of the unit whereas chunks of mortar were especially prevalent at the eastern portion of the unit. When the unit was sprayed with water, two darker features surrounded with plaster lines appeared, one located in the NW corner and one on the NE corner of the unit. They are indicated in the drawing. Of interest is the low frequency of artifacts in the unit (the most common finds were small animal bones). The walls of the unit were defined and, unlike the upper portion of the walls, were found to be unplastered and made of room fill.
The orientation of the red-painted plaster chunks in this unit is notable because it is so varied. Some pieces were deposited with the paint facing upwards, others facing downwards and others at an angle. Some chunks of plaster demonstrated two plastering and painting phases as well. The overall impression is that the chunks of red-painted plaster were deposited without much attention paid ti their orientation.
