Description: Trench 9 

 

Discussion: The mortar of this building was easier to see than on wall F.2806 because it had been protected a bit by wall F.2806. The bricks and mortar from these two walls looked very alike, but from the topical view it was clear they were two separate walls, as it was also in the cross section of Trench 8, where the walls had also crossed through. The mortar and wall F.2807 came clearly onto a room fill layer (15496)

Condition: hot and sunny 

Consistency: firm, eroded parts were fiable 

Colour: light greyish brown 

Texture: clay 

Bedding: layered
