Unit 15496
Category: Layer dug in 2007
Area: North
Interpretive Categories: fill - so associated archetecture, room fill - walls outside of trench
Data Category Information: Location: building; Deposition: homogeneous
Discussion: Layer (15496) is a fill of some sort, but with no visible architecture in the trench it is hard to say what. The fill had several bones/bone bits of a human between the age of 5-7 (approximation), but the bones were articulated, spread through the fill and not clustered in any sort of fashion. The bones were very damaged when removed from the fill because the fill was so hard. The fill ended on a fairly clear basal boundary onto a darker more ashy fill (15666).
Recognition: room fill
Definition: clear under walls, poor under previous layer (15478)
Execution: trowel, mattock, hoe
Condition: hot and sunny
Consistency: firm
Colour: brown with white flecking
Texture: clay
Bedding: massive
Inclusions: frequent human bone, animal bone, burnt building material; occasional stone, pottery, obsidian, clay balls
Post-depositional Features: animal burrows, plant action, over-enthusiastic mattocking
Basal Boundary: fair onto darker more ashy layer
