Unit 1580

Area: South

Data Category Information: Location: feature; Description: basin; Material: white clay; Deposition: multiple
Dimensions: v.approx: 0.46m E-W x 0.38 N-S x 2-3mm thick
Discussion: This must represent the very first plaster application internal to the basin feature 12. It survives in patches, mostly where the base is uneven and therefore fills irregularities i.e. dips in pockets. It curves up the south face of the basin wall to approximately halfway up which might reflect the original height of the feature with additional height added as the floors rose? To the west the plaster is not continuous with the wall plaster but abuts it.
