Discussion: The unit (16870) had several big limestones and mudbrick in it. It contained disarticulated human remains. Sepcial finds were a glass pearl and a broken bronze ring. Some burnt limestone of reddish colour appeared in the fill. The unit (16870) was heavily disturbed by bioturbation.
JMR 17.2.2010: Seems to be a pit cutting wall F.5059 (see sketch) 

 

Recognition: The wall of the east section, that continues in the planum, was not visible in the west section. 

Definition: Clear in section 

Execution: Small pick, trowel, hand showel 

Condition: Dry, hot, under shelter 

Consistency: Loose and mixed 

Colour: Whitish yellow, brownish orange, brownish grey 

Texture: Silt and small gravel 

Bedding: Massive 

Inclusions: Some brown round brick and plaster, moderate pottery, some bone and a tiny amount of shell. Also plaster flecks. 

Post-depositional Features: Animal disturbance in North and the deeper levels in south.
