Discussion: We did not sample the unit because it was easy to see that it is an animal disturbance.
The bottom was defined by the wall F.5051 (16847 & 16848) which is visible in the base of the grave cut. The level of the wall beneath unit (16889) is a little bit higher than in the grave cut. 

 

Recognition: Darker, loose soil 

Definition: Clear 

Execution: Trowel, hand showel, brush. 

Condition: Dry, hot, windy, under shelter. 

Consistency: Loose and soft 

Colour: Dark brown with white flecks 

Texture: Silty fine sand 

Bedding: Massive 

Inclusions: Bones (faunal), potsherds, modern tile 

Post-depositional Features: Animal disturbance and root action defined by walll
