08/04/2012 - Excavation of this unit resumed by KTX
This unit comprises the upper section of mudbrickmaterial belonning to wall f. 5058. This part of the wall was excavated to the depth of the third layer of brick, including one block standing higher in the south. Due to the unclear situation of the outer SW corner of the building, some material from a later (Byzantine?) pit was included in the brick material. Based on this unfortunate mix-up, a new unit was opened for the lower part of the mudbrick material (see u. 17276). In this upper part, and especially in the SW corner, the brick layers were heavily disturbed by animal burrows. The wall consists of a double row of bricks. The top of the brick layer exposed marks the lowest level of this unit.
