Brown burning in .. ..

Discussion: Decided to 1/2 section as it wasn't clear whether this was one, two or three deposits. It seemed as though the western deposit was deposited on top of the middle one, so I started there. when I got to the mid-section, it was clear that the soil was different, so I put it in a separate bag (now unit .. ..) & the section shows that in fact this mid part is in an ash-lined dip overlying the W part. The E part is probably the same as W, but I will put soil in separate bag & then we'll see.
Also, the far W part may be a different deposit - the soil is more bricky in appearance than the majority of this fill.

Taking out the 2nd half of this sectioned unit, I had intended to do it with care - however, having had to take time of site I ended up doing it in a hurry. In fact, Meltem dug it instead. I decided therefore to take it out as one, though close inspection of the section showed at least 3 different soils & possibly a stifling of the fire pit (see sketch) The layers were taken out separately to maximise info, but recorded all as 1693.
