Discussion: This unit consists of the mudbrick material of the buttress f. 3302. The removal of this unit is in conjunction with the buttress revealing its construction. Six layers of mudbrick (dark brown) were exposed above one 'slab' (light brown), apparently covering the whole surface of the structure. Below this a layer of thick white mortar/plaster/foundation (?) was discovered which also connects to the area belowwall f. 2427. The second section cut into the area close to this wall also showed that the bricks of the buttress were most likely layed simultaneously to those of the wall as no plastering or other interface could be identified as previously assumed by a plaster line at the surface. The material make-up and construction of this buttress is similar to that of f. 3301.
