Unit 17238
Category: Layer dug in 2008
Area: Trench 5
Interpretive Categories: plaster on buttress
Data Category Information: none
Discussion: 2008: Plaster layer on buttress 5052. Only visible on its southern extension. Partially cut by pit 16823 in the NW and not visible in the NE. Further excavation in the NE might make it visible. Colour is pale yellow, material probably lime. Consistency firm, but gets very crumbly when dried out.
2012: This unit is for the plaster of buttress F.5052 of B.98. The plaster was patchy, up to 3cm thick in some places. In the bottom of the northwest corner of F.5052, the buttress plaster connected to the floor and wall plaster of F.2428. This is the outer layer of plaster from the later phase of buttress construction. Behind this plaster, at the bottom, was a layer of fill with pottery and painted plaster, and behind that was a line of plaster from an older phase of construction.
