Discussion: This unit comprises the mortar in buttress F.3301. The average thickness of the mortar is 3cm. The mortar is of high quality with almost not inclusions in the material itself. The mortar is quite sandy with some clay giving it the beige-yellow colour. The mortar is applied in irregular amounts compared to the walls. In some area no mortar is present between bricks, and in other thick layers were found. The unit was not screened seperately from the mudbricks, but sampled. 

Consistency: compact, some loose patches 

Colour: beige, yellow, brown, black, white 

Texture: silty sand, some clay 

Bedding: massive 

Inclusions: charcoal 

Post-depositional Features: animal burrows 

Basal Boundary: uneven, slopeing towards east
