Unit 17296
Category: Layer dug in 2012
Area: Trench 5
Interpretive Categories: mud brick
Data Category Information: none
Discussion: This unit comprises the mudbrick material of wall F.3351. In the east the material is very shallow (ca.2cm) and sloped upward into a brick possibly belonging to lower wall. In plan view some faint mortar lines are visible, although no bricks can be traced. On the other hand, the western part shows a clear double row of bricks slabs. The corner to wall F.2427 can not be identified. At least 4 courses of mud brick can be identified with a possible 5th course on top that was heavily degraded. Both the interior and exterior rows of brick bond to wall F.5058. The mudbricks are the same type as those used in the other walls of B.106. Also an offset placement of bricks was identified, with the dimenions of brick averaging 80x40x10 cm. Because of height differences the unit has an artificial edge in the west.
