Description: plaster surface covering hearth/basin feature as with the other features in the building the plaster is heavly fire damaged, it is located in the usual position for a hearth.
Discussion: Layer removed was a patchy dark red brown compacted and baked clay make up later, in order to come down onto next red make up layer. The layers in the hearth are very patchy and are probably due to hearth floor repairs over time during its use. The materials of repairs are varied and uncontinuous across the feature.
