Description: clay ball cluster in southwall (F.3333) in building 98 

 

Discussion: This unit initially excavated last year was removed completely while sectioning aprox. 15cm into wall F.3333. When approaching the remaining clay balls from the cluster a trowel was used to remove them and see how far back the unit extended. Only the approximately 10 clay balls on the prior wall surface were found within a tons of very dense creamy white clay. The balls did not continue further into the wall to the south, but the matrix that they were within did continue for about 10-15cm into the wall, but waned to about 1cm thickness (started approx. 10cm thick from top to bottom) by the time the section was complete.
