Discussion: Neolithic juvenile skeleton in E platform (F 3408) of B 76 which was burned in Neolithic times. The platform was burned in the western portion more than in its eastern portion where the platform floor was still intact. The fire appears to have been most intense in the south central part of the building and resulted in the differential burning of the platform floor. Consequently the bones of the skeleton (18447) were differentiially altered by the heat of the fire. The bones in the west of the grave pit (the skull, mandible, upper torso) were blackened as a result of being "baked" by the heat of the fire whereas the bones in the eastern portion of the platform were fire altered but not blackened. Rather than being blackened entirely, the bones in the eastern part of the platform were highly fragmentary with the cancellous spongy bone orange in color. Some of the postcranial bones were also intermittently blackened on the upper surface. Two additional skeletons (18464 and 18701) were evident in the grave pit. Sk (18464) was directly under sk (18447) and some of these bones could be seen in plan view while the blackened mandible of sk (18701) was lying beside the head of sk (18447). No grave goods were found in association with sk (18447).
