Unit 19150
Category: Layer dug in 2016
Area: South
Interpretive Categories: Make-up layer
Data Category Information: In Situ: in situ; Location: building; Material: pise-like; Deposition: heterogeneous
Discussion: Compacted make-up layer laid to stop floor 19145 subsiding into earlier burials. Cut by burial cut u. 19149 suggesting that the deposition of this layer coincided with the burial of juvenile sk.19148 but the burial cut was dug immediately after deposition of U.19150 (rather than dig a shallow cut through the earlier floor & backfill with this makeup layer) either through habit/ practice, to ensure the body is nearer the surface or to stop the compacted makeup layer crushing the body.
