Discussion: Skeleton was found after quite a bit of exploration of infill (unit number 19724). Before exposing the mat/basket around the skeleton (unit number 19726) and the skeleton itself, there were quite a few bits of small, shiny shell. The remains were well preserved and many appeared to have some of the mat/basket phytolith material attached to them. Only the skull was somewhat damaged - it may have been shattered by the weight of the infill above it or by an animal since there appears to have been an animal burrow near the skull. Bones were often locked into one another (the right arm was under the right ribs, legs were crossed, etc.), making it tricky at times to remove and identify them. There was one approximately 3 centimeter long shell near the temple/forehead of the skeleton which may have been placed there purposely or may have ended up there after burial.
