Unit 20803
Category: Layer dug in 2013
Area: South
Interpretive Categories: Infill in burial pit
Data Category Information: Location: cut; Description: burial; Deposition: homogeneous
Discussion: Thin infill layer in the cut of a probable burial. The spread/area of the layer is more limited than that of the overlaying u.20802 and is therefore interpreted as part of the actual fill of the burial cut. The upper surface is sloping towards the middle of the eastern/middle part of the layer. When the layer was removed, the lower interface showed an even more distinctive sloping towards the eastern middle.
The layer is not actually visible on a daily sketch, but its boundaries are somewhat marked on the sketch of 20130702.
Consistency: Soft/friable
Colour: Medium brown
Texture: Silty
Bedding: Massive
Inclusions: Charcoal flakes and fragments of burnt clay with temper, <1%
Post-depositional Features: The layer seems to be partly pressed down into the plaster of the underlaying layer?
Basal Boundary: Distinctive, but partly pressed down into the plaster of u.20804, in "dots" ca. 0,01-0,02 m in diameter.
