Discussion: The unit defined as a layer under the floors of Sp 444, very homogenous, firm and containing close to no finds. After excavating top 10 cm, the Space was divided by wall F8003, however due to the fill being the same on both sides of this wall and, the fact that the sp 558 was interpreted as a kind of casing foundations, the fill was excavated further as one unit. 

 

Consistency: Firm, friable at the top and in the N 

Colour: dark brown 

Texture: silty clay 

Bedding: massive 

Inclusions: few charcoal and mineral flecks, plaster lumps 

Post-depositional Features: animal burrows 

Basal Boundary: sharp anthropogenic
