Unit 21120
Category: Layer dug in 2014
Area: North
Interpretive Categories: continuation of plaster layers and make up 30525
Data Category Information: In Situ: in situ; Location: feature; Description: raised area (platform); Material: plaster
Description: Two plaster layers separated by identical make up material, plaster layers were whiter closer to the northern edge of the platform and darker tan or scortched closer to the burned southern end. Make up material was a silty clay texture of dark grey color interspersed with white, brown and scortched plaster nodules.
Discussion: Due to the heavy erosion on kerb F.3693, only two layers of identical plaster and make up layers were excavated in association with this unit. However, unit 30525 (reported same as this unit) reports that 4 identical plaster and make up layers appears to have been extending beneath the kerb. It is possible that the excavators were mistaken or that the kerb was overexcavated due to erosion.
The two plaster and make up layers were excavated sloped upward plt F.3695, beneath the kerb. The make up beneath these layer extended 15-20 cm to the base of the platform F.3695 appearing to consist of similar make up material to that found in infill u.21125.
Of the 4 layers in u.30525, it appears that two of them were abutting the kerb (those were totally excavated in 2013) and two of them (below) were beneath the kerb and were not totally excavated in 2013 (thus only two layers of u.30525 are in u.21120).
