Data Category Information: Location: cut; Description: pit; Deposition: homogeneous

Discussion: Retrieval pit for post hole located in the south west corner of feature 7342. Excavation of material revealed the position of a crawl hole in the west wall between unit 21160 and 21161. To date, this has not been excavated. The pit was dug to the level of building rubble. Plaster missing from the south and west wall indicate the probable position of the post. The elongated excavation portion possibly indicated the base of extremely large posts. 

Consistency: firm to friable 

Colour: medium to dark grey 

Texture: silty clay 

Bedding: massive 

Inclusions: mudbrick, plaster 

Post-depositional Features: animal burrows 

Basal Boundary: clear
