Unit 21500
Category: Layer dug in 2014
Area: North
Interpretive Categories: Painted Plaster
Data Category Information: In Situ: in situ; Location: wall/blocking; Material: plaster; Deposition: layered (wall plaster); Basal Spit: painted
Description: Red-Orange ocher layer partially removed during excavation in 2013. Section occurs on the plaster directly above the NE platform on the North Wall of the building. Layer was patchily dispersed (more heavily congregated on western side of painting). Layer was located under a fine, thin layer of plaster and above several additional thin layers of fine plaster masking subsequent pigment layers.
Previous Conservation: Wall Plaster was previously grouted using perlite in 10% w/v Paraloid B-48N in acetone where detachment from mudbrick substrate had occurred on eastern side of the plaster.
Discussion: Layer was mechanically revealed with scapels (Blade No. 22 and 15). Layer was documented and then ablated to reveal subsequent pigement and plaster layers.
