Description: Tightly packed cluster of animal bones in E part of oven. 

Discussion: The cluster of bones appeared underneath oven fill u.21350. The bones were packed tightly together and in a very bad condition. Faunal and Stella Macheridis had a look, before and during exc. And they could not see any specific articulation, at first, other than a possible up-side-down maxilla of a bovine. As that was removed, a possible articulation was noted of part of an animal cranium, with horn core to sygomaticum. The articulation could not be confirmed, due to the extremely bad preservation of the bones.

The fact that the bones were so tightly packed, laying beside/in the ash layer u.21370, and directly on top of floor u.21502, makes me come to the conclusion that the bones were put there as a unit, at one specific time of the usage phase of the oven. Most likely by the time of abandonment, since the infill comes right on top.

The unit was excavated with leaf trowel.

No samples were taken, since the unit was compiled exclusively by bone material.
