Data Category Information: Location: cut; Description: pit

Discussion: The cut for this infill was recognized by a depression of the soil. The infill of the cut (the current unit) was typical of infill with some small amounts of charcoal. Interestingly, there were almost no finds of any kind. It has been thought that this pit, and others like in in different buildings, were used to mix plaster and other materials. This unit was excavated by trowel. 

Consistency: friable to firm 

Colour: grey or orange with black flecks 

Texture: silty clay 

Bedding: massive 

Inclusions: some charcoal
