Unit 21595

Category: Layer    dug in 2014

Area: North

Interpretive Categories: Oven superstructure,Oven superstructure foundation layer

Data Category Information: In Situ: in situ; Location: feature; Description: oven; Deposition: homogeneous

Discussion: Identified as aseparate unit to superstructure u.21573, due to this layer being more massive, with much less temper, overall, and with a heavier concentration of clay.

I believe that the layer was formed as a foundation for the superstructure, as well as for the floor preparation (makeup) layer, u.21556.

The layer was excavated with leaf trowel and normal trowel.
