Unit 21634

Category: Layer    dug in 2014

Area: North

Interpretive Categories: burial infill (?)

Data Category Information: Location: cut; Description: burial; Deposition: heterogeneous

Description: infill placed within central part of sealed structure of B.132. Not fully excavated in 2014.
Fully excavated in 2015.

Discussion: The infill (U.21634) was recorded in the central part of sealed structure of B.132. The sediment registered within the relatively deep cut (U.21635) was easy to distinguish from surrounding room-fill (U.21622) in plan as well as in the section (during exploration). Taking into consideration the differences one may indicate recognizable diverse consistency and color of the accumulation within the cut. It comprised of mostly crushed bricks, in addition it was less sandy and more greasy than the encircled room-fill.
Unfortunately in 2014 it was impossible to accomplish the exploration of the presented unit. The latter was caused by the necessity of closing the excavation season within the area. The execution of the F.7634 had been ceased at the stage of revealing human bones within nearby feature 7632 and possibility that 7634 might be another foundation burial. The estimated time of further exploration both would have not allowed to accomplish the work by the end of the 2014 season.

2015 SEASON:
In the course of the research work in 2015 the examination of the burial infill (21634) had been continued and finally completed. The unit appeared to be relatively deep, reaching 0,48m of thickness, that gave eventually additional 217 liters of sediment which was entirely collected as flotation sample (S5) according to priority protocol associated with the burial infill treatment (for more information see also discussion on the Feature Sheet 7634).

Finds Room Information:

All material from site passes through the finds room for washing and separating before it is passed onto the various lab teams. The finds room keeps a basic inventory of what is found. A finds material type list is given here. Further analytical detail maybe provided by the Lab Team data below.

X Finds Material: nothing recorded

Finds Material Stored: nothing recorded
