Discussion: Recognized as separate unit surrounding oven superstructure due to different texture and to some extent due to colour diffrences. The unit followed the slopes of superstructure (u.22121).
I believe that this unit represents the bottom of the floor layer, or alternatively a composition of several previous hearth floors, that has been raked out re-built. I find the first option to be the likely one, however.

The unit was excavated with trowel. 

Consistency: friable 

Colour: red brown to yellow brown 

Texture: grass tempered silty clay 

Bedding: layered
