Unit 23163
Category: Layer dug in 2017
Area: North
Interpretive Categories: Posthole fill
Data Category Information: Location: cut; Description: posthole; Deposition: heterogeneous
Discussion: Fill of posthole (F.8395) first recognized as comparatively ash, charcoal and animal-bone rich area in basal building fill, with larger harder fragments of mixed rubble than surrounding fill. Occassional small fragments of baked clay, possibly fire installation debris, in upper parts of fill are noteworthy due to proximity to oven of B.5, which protruded through the N wall of B.139.
The unit is partially excavated at the end of the Hodder project in 2017. Volumes & dimensions represent the excavated upper part of the fill.
