Unit 23240
Category: Cut dug in 2017
Area: South
Data Category Information: Description: pit
Discussion: Unit exposed after remove the earliest floor/make up (U21895) of B-17, but clearly defined after expose the midden U23227. Within the same unit we documented the cut and the infill of this feature.
The fill was distinct by the presence of clay, remains of plaster and other building materials that where completely different for the rest of the greyish loose midden deposit around. The characteristics of this fill was exactly the same from the top until the bottom of the pit, which was around 0.20 cm deep. With the infill we recover a few clay balls, stones, obsidian flecks and a few bones.
The cut had a round shape with flat bottom and vertical edges, and was pretty easy to define, thanks to the clear and homogeneous infill.
This unit clearly cut the burials F8049 and 8450, but regarding to it function is complicate to say something. As and hypothesis we think that can be a post retrieval pit related with the construction phase of B-17, because is clear that cuts the floor U23203, so is earlier than the Sp. 620,
