Dimensions: 0.56 m N-S x 0.45 m E-W, up to 0.10 m thick 

Discussion: Layer removed at beginning of season from within "basin" in clean area at W end of space 151. Uncertain how to interpret this deposit, possibly occupation material ?? or possibly an accumulation post-use of area ?? Only unit in this part of space to be free stratigraphically and other units immediately physically below extending beneath plaster layers to east (RT 13/09/98). 

Recognition: Identified by RT, edges of possible deposit revealed by surface trowelling. 

Definition: Fairly well defined edges. 

Execution: Trowel. 

Condition: Very dry. 

Consistency: firm, dusty, but crumbly beneath 

Colour: 10 YR 6/3 pale brown (dry) 

Texture: fine silt, some clay 

Bedding:  

Inclusions: stone 

Post-depositional Features: roots, insect hole (probable) 

Basal Boundary: abrupt/distinct/flat
